The North Stars are an Australian Ice Hockey League team run by the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium, and while they represent the Northstars Ice Hockey Club by association and registration, they are separate organisations.

The North Stars are name sponsored by Proski Snow & Water Sports, and are known as the Proski North Stars.

The North Stars joined the AIHL in 2002, and since that time have been National Champions four times, in 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2008. Additionally, they have been Minor Premiers (1st in regular season) three times, in 2004, 2009 and 2010.

The North Stars take an active role in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie community and hold one game per year as a fund-raiser. The North Stars gain excellent support from local media and sponsors, and have a consistently-high crowd attendance near the rink’s capacity of 800 people.

The North Stars have developed players along with the Northstars Ice Hockey Club over the past 9 years to the point where now there are several players in the team who have come all the way from a grass-roots level.

The AIHL allows the North Stars to sign six import (non Australian citizens/permanent residents) players each season, four may take the ice in any one game. If you are a hockey player wanting to play for the North Stars please contact our General Manager.
